Dateline Disney (01/08/2018)

The new year may have opened, but many places across the Disney parks are closing. Toy Story Mania? Closed for refurbishments. Disneyland's Main Street and Dumbo ride? Closed for refurbishments. Stitch's Great Escape? Closing for good! Meanwhile, Downtown Disney saw a few grand openings with two new restaurants: The Edison and Maria & Enzo's.

3 Endangered Disney Attractions You Should See Before They Disappear FOREVER

Theme park attractions come and go all the time, and even though we’d like all our favorite rides and shows to stick around forever, the sad fact is that we have to say goodbye to at least a few every year.

Disney's Animal Kingdom closed to make way for a new Up-inspired show. However, even though the end of 2017 saw several closures and 2018 is just getting starting, there are several more confirmed and rumored closures that Disney fans should know about, including one that is happening this weekend!

Disneyland Shares Details On Overhauls of Dumbo and Horse Drawn Streetcars Beginning Next Week

Two original Disneyland attractions will close temporarily beginning January 8th to receive updates. For the first time since 1955, the horse-drawn streetcar track on Main Street U.S.A., will be replaced in its entirety, temporarily pausing the operation of all Main Street, U.S.A. vehicles. Also, Dumbo the Flying Elephant will receive a new queue location for guest comfort and accessibility.

While sections of the Main Street U.S.A., track have been replaced before, this complete replacement will incorporate new brickwork that will enhance the look of the iconic thoroughfare. The pieces of original track that remain today will be salvaged and preserved, and the previously updated pieces of track will be recycled.

Toy Story Mania Undergoing Track Closures & Full Ride Closures Starting Today To Prepare for Toy Story Land Opening at Hollywood Studios

With Toy Story Midway Mania moving to Toy Story Land in Summer 2018 via a newly rerouted queue and exit, the attraction will need to experience some downtime ahead of the opening of the new land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Starting today, the third track of Toy Story Midway Mania (which was added in the Summer of 2016) will be closed for a period to accommodate the needed construction. The original two tracks of the ride will undergo a closure as well in a few weeks time, which will be followed by a full closure of the attraction to accommodate the final changes that need to be made before Toy Story Land opens. Dates for these closures have yet to be announced at this time.

The Edison opens at Walt Disney World as Orlando’s swankiest new bar

The Edison, a lavish industrial Gothic-style restaurant/bar/nightlife hotspot, soft-opened at Disney Springs and this place is very swanky!

Disney Spring’s newest restaurant for the family (and adults after 10 PM) is an exciting eatery that will leave you with sensory overload. With its stunning interior, tasty drink and food menu, The Edison is the place to be. It also promises live entertainment every day of the week, which makes this place even more enticing.

Maria & Enzo’s opens at Disney Springs with delicious Italian cuisine and specialty drinks

Maria & Enzo’s Ristorante, the newest Italian dining location in Disney Springs, opened its doors for guests to take a look inside the new eatery.

Maria & Enzo’s is a brand new dining destination in Disney Springs that is said to bring the warmth of Italy and the most delicious Italian cuisine to Walt Disney World. The restaurant will serve Lunch and Dinner, where guests can feast on a vast amount of tasty Italian dishes, specialty cocktails, and desserts.
