Go Out And Vote!

Tumblr

Election Day is only a week away. Many states have important midterm elections that will determine their governors, congressmen, senators, local political offices, school boards, and even constitutional amendments. This election may not be presidential, but nevertheless, it is an important one.

If you weren’t planning to vote this year, by all means, do so anyway. Many states even have early voting, so you can cast your votes early without having to deal with long waits. Consider early voting the FastPass of American democracy.

So go perform your civil duty and vote, and if you can, vote early! This is an important election, and every vote counts. I, by no means, will tell you who to vote for, but by all means, vote for whoever you believe best represents you and your values.

If you’re still uncertain about how to vote or who to vote for, consider the following resources:

Register to Vote – The official government website for elections. Learn if you’re eligible to vote, register to vote, check your voter status, or make changes to your party affiliation.

On The Issues – Learn where the political canidates within your state stand on the most important political issues.

Ballotpedia – Preview the sample ballot for your state and district, and learn more about the political canidates and amendments on your ballot.

VoteSmart – Learn more about the political canidates, where they stand on the issues, and who’s providing their campaign donations.

VoteEasy – A simple quiz that allows you to determine which candidate to vote for based on how well they align with you on the important issues.

Educate yourself and go vote! If you’ve already voted, leave a comment below and let everyone know you did your patriotic duty. (Just keep the politics to a minimum, please. We want discussions here to remain civil.)

I’m Not Dead. I’m Still Here.

Unless you’ve been stuck inside Monstro the Whale, you’ve probably noticed that it’s been more than one month since I’ve posted something on this blog. Don’t worry. I’m not dead. I’m still living—though barely!

If you’re curious as to where I’ve been and why I haven’t posted anything in such a long time, I’ve been attending to other things, mostly work and family matters. As this blog is a hobby of mine, it unfortunately has to take a back seat as a priority when it comes to real life. And real life has been hitting me hard!

I’ve been up to my neck in work, I’ve become emotionally drained by the news and political madness occurring in my country and throughout the world, and to top it all off, I’ve recently had to deal with a death in the family. So needless to say, I’ve been too stressed and busy to write anything on this blog.

As I’ve already mentioned, this blog is a hobby, not a job. This blog doesn’t pay the bills for me. I have a real job for that. As such, when faced with the choice of either writing for a living or writing for fun, obviously, writing for a living takes a higher priority. Hence why I’ve been focusing more on my real life job and less on my blog here.

So does this mean I’m finished with this blog? Is this the end of the Magic Ears Dudebro? Probably not. But at the moment, I’m not going to be writing as consistently as I previously did. I’m probably going to focus on writing when I have a chance and not once a week every week as was previously the case.

My advice for you all is to keep checking in on this blog now and then to see if I have anything new posted. And as always, feel free to follow me on Twitter and Facebook for my most recent thoughts. Until then, stay magical.
