DWOA Princess Alliance: Chapter 10

Disney's World Of Adventures: Princess Alliance

Chapter 10 – It'll Do Magic, Believe It Or Not

Once upon a time, there lived a maiden named Cinderella. She was forced to work as a servant in the home of her late father by her wicked stepmother and stepsisters. Day in and day out, she cooked, cleaned, and labored for them, yet with the aid of her talking mice friends, she remained ever gentle, kind, and determined that her dreams would come true.

One day, A royal ball was announced in honor of the prince, and every maiden in the kingdom was invited. The evil stepfamily attended, but poor Cinderella was left behind. Fortunately, her fairy godmother gifted her with a magical dress, a pair of glass slippers, and carriage to carry her away to the ball, though she was warned that their magic would last only until the final stroke of midnight.

At the ball, Cinderella met the prince, danced with him, and fell in love. Unfortunately, their romantic evening was interrupted when she was forced to flee before the stroke of midnight. To her favor, she accidently left behind a glass slipper. The prince searched for the foot that fit the slipper, and with it, he finally found his beloved Cinderella. He whisked her away from her evil family and to the palace to be his bride.

And they all lived happily ever after.

At first, Belle and the Beast did not get along. However, as time moved on, both of them grew more accustom to each other. The Beast learned to control his temper, and Belle learned to see the beauty hidden within his beastly exterior. The two soon became friends, and their friendship bloomed into love.

Sadly, tragedy struck when Belle learned her father was gravely ill. The Beast permitted her to leave and see him. Meanwhile, Gaston, a jealous admirer of Belle, invaded the castle to rescue her and slay the beast. Gaston was defeated, but the Beast was left mortally wounded. Saddened, Belle gave him one last kiss. Her kiss proved to be true love's kiss that turned the beast into a handsome prince. His curse lifted, the two of them married.

DWOA Princess Alliance: Chapter 08

Disney's World Of Adventures: Princess Alliance

Chapter 08 – Enter Lucitor, Harbinger Of Evil

Moonlight poured through the stained glass window into the vacant chamber where Maria was held captive by Bruja Dama. The room remained silently still as it had been before being occupied by the witch and her prisoner. That silence was interrupted by a gust of wind that blew inside and stirred up a vortex. From that whirlwind appeared a plume of green smoke that spiraled upward from the floor to the ceiling.

The wind and smoke disappeared, and in its place appeared a rangy figure. He was tall, thin, and slender. His skin was so pale that he appeared to be painted white. He wore a tight-fitting outfit with a long-sleeved shirt that was half-black and half-white and pants that were half-white and half-black. He wore shoes with curly toes on his feet, a ruffled collar around his neck, and upon his head, a jester’s cap with four dangly prongs with bells on their tips. His face was concealed by a white mask with two slits for eyeholes and a painted red smile. The eye slits glowed with a lambent green light, a similar color and glow as the orb at the tip of his scepter.

With his free hand, the rangy pied-outfitted man covered his mouth to yawn. The smile painted upon his mask turned into an o-shaped mouth as he yawned, and turned once more into a smile when he finished.

Releasing his scepter, which floated in midair beside him, he extended both hands outward to stretch his arms. His painted smile once more turned into a red circle as he yawned, and he twisted to his left as he stretched, bending his upper body a full 360-degrees three times, contorting his body and spine in an unnatural motion, before untwisting himself and returning to a normal stance.

“Oy!” He sighed, one hand on his hip, the other holding his scepter. “A millennia or two in the abyss does numbers on your figure.”

As he spoke, the painted smile on his mask glowed, flickering with every syllable.

“By the way,” he continued. “How long have I’ve been gone?”

He waves his scepter, its orb glowing green, and from it flew a green ray of light. From the light appeared an hourglass slowly dripping with sand, the bottom glass fuller than the top. The man bent forward and scratched his chin as the smile on his mask turned upside down into a frown.

“Huh! That long?” The hourglass disappeared, and his frown turned upward into a smile. “Well, I guess time flies when you’re trapped in limbo between time and space.”

Both arms akimbo, he surveyed the room around him. “Speaking of space, this place looks emptier than the skulls of most politicians.”

He took a deep inhale through his nose before fanning it with his hand. His painted smiled twisted into a wavy frown.

“Oh, and it reeks of old lady smell. Time to fix that.”

He rose his scepter into the air and waved it several times, its orb glowing. “Eye of newt and five-leaf clover, give my place an extreme makeover.”

In a flash of green light, what had once been a vacant chamber transformed into a well-furnished study with bookshelves filled with dusty old tomes and scrolls, and tables covered with test tubes and instruments of all shapes and sizes.

The spellcaster dusted his hands and once more set them akimbo as he surveyed his surroundings. “Ah! Evil lair sweet evil lair. It’s good to be back!”

He took hold of his scepter. “Of course, the fact I’m back indicates that the enchantment sealing away the abyss is starting to weaken. Only a matter of time until it fades away completely, and then my master will make his epic comeback.”

Once more, he scratched his chin. “Hmm. Speaking of a comeback, I sense a certain magic still lingering in this room. Imma check and find out what it is—or rather, was.”

He spun his scepter around several times before striking it on the floor and waving his other hand over the orb. “Magic orb, I humbly inquire, show me what events in this room transpired.”

Inside his orb swirled green clouds that parted to reveal scenes of past events. He saw as the evil witch, Bruja Dama, stood overlooking Princess Maria as she lay still in her sleeping curse.

“Hey, I know that lady!” he exclaimed. “Boy, the years haven’t been good on her. It certainly explains the old lady smell. And what’s this? A sleeping princess? Well, that’s certainly cliché. Imma fast forward things a bit.”

He waved his hand over the orb, and the scene within shifted to when Susan and the others barged into the room to rescue her.

“Oh, I’ve seen this all before. Here’s the royal prince and his entourage come to rescue the fair maiden, whom he’ll awaken with true love’s kiss.”

Susan leaned over to plant her lips upon Maria’s.

“Oh, well, that’s certainly progressive. Talk about subverting expectations!”

Maria awoke to embrace Susan with a hug as everyone else cheered for them.

“Judging by their royal attire, I’m assuming they’re all princes and princesses. That’s quite a few monarchs together in one place. Too many, if you ask me.”

He snapped his fingers and the scenes within his orb vanished.

“The spell binding my master away requires ten monarchs from ten kingdoms. The last thing we need is for these royal pains to grow their ranks. I’ll have to keep a close eye on them and stop them, or my name isn’t Lucitor!”

He threw his arms in the air, arched his spine back, and cackled manically—before abruptly stopping and replying, “Which it is. It’s Lucitor. That’s my name.”, then returning to his maniacal laugh.

DWOA Princess Alliance: Chapter 07

Disney's World Of Adventures: Princess Alliance

Chapter 07 – The Hall of the Spellcasters Guild

One moment, Princess Marianna and the others stood on the balcony of her palace overlooking her kingdom of Hermosa Vista. The next moment, in the blink of an eye, in a bright flash of light, they appeared in a completely different location. The sudden change startled them. Most startled of all was Eugene.

“Where? What? How?” With every question, he shifted his head sporadically in a different direction, evidently dazed and confused. He soon took a deep breath to calm down. “Okay, I have no idea what just happened, but I’m going to assume that the answer to any question I have is going to be ‘magic.’ Am I hot or cold?”

“You’re certainly hot on that one.” Merlin motioned to the room wherein they now resided. “I welcome you all to the Hall of the Spellcasters Guild.”

They stood in a vast circular room with a polished marble floor patterned like a black-and-white chessboard. Around the circumference of the room rose stone pillars, and in-between them stood shelves upon shelves of books and countless other artifacts.

Phillip raised an eyebrow. “The Spellcasters Guild?”

“Yes, yes,” The elderly wizard nodded as he led the six royals further in. “It’s exactly as the name suggests. We are a guild of spellcasters from all over the world. We congregate in this great hall so that we may utilize our combined magical powers to fulfill the greater good. Both you and Aurora already know three of our members.”

No sooner had he said that, three bright lights of red, blue, and green flashed before them, revealing three fairies quite familiar to both Phillip and Aurora.

“Flora! Fauna! Merriweather!” Aurora rushed to greet her fairy friends. “So good to see you all again. I assume you three are friends of Merlin, then?”

Flora curtsied. “Yes, my dear: we are, indeed, esteemed members of the Spellcasters Guild.”

“And that makes us honored compatriots of other magic-wielders like Merlin the Great,” Fauna replied.

“But there’s one spellcaster whose magic surpasses all of ours,” Merriweather replied. “And he is the one who called you all here.”

Marianna raised an eyebrow. “Really? And who might that be?”

“That would be none other than me.”

Hiatus Until December

Sorry I haven't posted anything in a long while. My computer bit the dust a month ago, and I've been swamped with work in real life. That, compounded with the stress of the elections and real world, has left me not feeling in the mood for blogging. So for the time being, I'm taking a hiatus. No blog posts until December. Have a happy Thanksgiving.

DWOA Princess Alliance: Chapter 06

Disney's World Of Adventures: Princess Alliance

Chapter 06 – At Long Last, True Love Arrives

The next day arrived, and with it, the wedding. What was once planned as the union between Princess Marianna of Hermosa Vista and Prince Gruber of the Southern Isles would now be a union between the Princess and her faithful lady-in-waiting, Susanna.

Both ladies awoke early that morning to prepare for their big day. Maria wore a wedding gown, pure white as the freshly fallen snow—the same dress her mother, the late queen, once wore on her wedding day. Susan, meanwhile, wore a violet gown that she would have worn as the Maid of Honor, but which she now wore as the other bride.

When the hour of the wedding arrived later that afternoon, both ladies marched down the aisle to glorious fanfare. Both stood before the altar facing each other as the bishop officiated their wedding. Both exchanged their vows and said their “I do’s”, and both embraced each other in their first kiss as lawfully-wedded wives. They had marched down the aisle as friends, and marched once more as a married couple.

The wedding ceremony had been hosted in the palace’s sanctuary, and the following reception was hosted in the grand ballroom. There Maria and Susan were formally introduced as they made their grand entrance. They shared their first bite of cake, their first sip of sangria, and their first dance as a married couple. Maria tossed her bouquet, and Susan tossed the garter belt. Both celebrated with food, dancing, and overall merriment. They cavorted with their fellow guests, including their new friends, and continued the festivities well into the evening.

As the sun began to set, both Maria and Susan retreated to the balcony for some quality alone time as a couple. The orange sun dipped into the ocean, appearing to melt within the water, and the sky shifted from tangerine to indigo as the stars faintly appeared. Both ladies held each other’s hand as they watched the dusk transform into the evening before them.

DWOA Princess Alliance: Chapter 05

Disney's World Of Adventures: Princess Alliance

Chapter 05 - The Witch, The Dragon, And True Love’s Kiss

The five heroes (and Gruber) hacked their way through the forest of thorns until they neared the end. Upon leaving the thorny thicket, and having worked up a sweat from their hacking and slashing, they stopped to catch their breaths and wipe the sweat from their brows. Gruber, who had barely lifted a finger to lift his own sword, merely brushed the dust off his trousers with a huff.

“About time we escaped those dreaded thorns.” He pressed his hand upon his heart and lifted his chin proudly as he flicked his hair back. “No need to thank me.”

Susan rolled her eyes behind his back and muttered under her breath, when she finally caught it, “No one was going to.”

Gruber pointed to the path ahead of them. “Onward, fellow adventurers. Time is of the essence, and the darling princess—my princess!—awaits her rescue.”

If Susan wasn’t disgusted at his refusal to help them through the thorns, she was appalled now that he dared imply his efforts would rescue her friend. Unfortunately, she and the others were too exhausted to rebut him. All they could do was follow.

The six of them traveled by foot the rest of the way. Their horses remained tied to their posts on the other side of the forest, as they refused to travel through the thorns. Fortunately, their equine companions, having been fed and watered, would be safe alone for the time being.

Along a winding road among rolling hills they traversed until they reached the foot of the mountain range bordering the kingdom. Their path soon led them to a ravine. At the end of the path spanned a stone bridge, where stood a tall tower on the other side. Along the bridge rose a series of pillars, each bearing the worn, faded colors of hanging banners. Both the bridge and tower were hewn of stones that appeared much older than even the surrounding mountains. At the top of the tower was a stained-glass window, its panes the only hue among the gray stone. No doubt this was where the witch had trapped the princess.

“At last, we’ve arrived!” Gruber stretched forth his arms to greet his destination. “And in yonder tower, dreaming of her true love, awaits the lovely Princess Marianna.”

Once more, he pressed his hand against his heart. Closing his eyes and gleaming his pearly whites, he gesticulated to the others.

“I have no further need of your assistance, thank you,” he said. “It is I who will brave the tower and rescue the princess from the clutches of the wicked witch—”

He turned to gaze into the sickly green eyes of the witch herself as she stood before him, her crooked yellow grin inches from his face. Her sudden appearance startled him and forced him to leap a yard back.

“Bruja Dama!” Reflexively, he drew his sword and aimed it at her with trembling grip. “Stay back, foul wretch, or I shall smite thee with my—”

“¡Venga ya!” she rolled her eyes with arms akimbo. With a single slap, as casually as if she were swatting away a fly, she sent his sword flying from his grip and across the ground. “I take it you’re the príncipe valiente who’s come to rescue fair maiden?”

With a yelp, Gruber rose both fists in front of his face. “Y-y-yes! I am the man who will fight for her honor. Now unhand her at once.”

“Come to bargain, have we?” The witch studied her fingernails before glancing back at the poor, pathetic excuse of a prince cowering before her. “Pues vale. I will trade the princess for the entire kingdom. I very much want my pueblo back on the top of the hill, though the castle will suffice as a suitable upgrade.”

Susan, from where she stood yards away from the Prince, pointed an angry finger at her. “You will hand my friend over at once, or you will have to contend with us!”

The other four nodded in agreement as their hands hovered near their weapons.

Gruber nodded furiously and pointed at the others. “Y-y-yeah! What she said.”

Bruja Dama flicked her wrist. “Have it your way.”

She rose several feet into the air and stretched forth her arms. Her eyes glowed green as she chanted: “Ahora deberás tratar conmigo, y todos los poderes del mal.”

DWOA Princess Alliance: Chapter 04

Disney's World Of Adventures: Princess Alliance

Chapter 04 - The Plan To Rescue The Princess

The ballroom roared in a cacophony as the guests panicked over the disaster that befell them. The remains of two stained glass windows littered the marble floor, and the princess who had graced their presence was nowhere to be seen, carried away in the talons of a centuries-old witch turned griffin.

“Mi Dios!” The king tugged upon his whiskers as his face glowed red. “This is a disaster. Princess Marianna is to be married tomorrow. The princess cannot get married if there is no princess to marry.”

The Duke paced back and forth, biting his fingernails—or at least he would were he not wearing gloves.

“Indeed. And her marriage to Prince Gruber is required to unite our two kingdoms. They cannot unite if the heir of one kingdom is not present to be married to the other.”

Susanna stepped forward to raise a finger.

“Forgive me, Your Excellencies, but shouldn’t our concern be the safety of Princess Marianna? She was stolen away into the night by an evil witch.”

The King blinked several times before clearing his throat.

“Of course, of course,” he answered, coughing each time. “The safety of my darling daughter, The Princess, is of the utmost priority. We must rescue her at once.”

Prince Gruber knelt on one knee with head bowed, eyes closed, and hand upon heart.

“My dear King, as the prince betrothed to your beloved princess, I humbly offer my services in rescuing her.”

“You would risk your life to save my daughter?”

“I would scale the highest mountain, swim the deepest sea, and brave the darkest forests to rescue the fair maiden who would be my bride—provided it doesn’t rain tomorrow, of course!”

This elicited an eye roll from Susan, while the King offered a hearty laugh.

“Very well! Fortunately for you, the forecast tomorrow is expected to be tiempo soleado as usual here in Hermosa Vista. You have my blessing to rescue her.”

Prince Gruber stood and bowed before the King.

“One small favor, if you will: as willing as I am to brave any danger awaiting me on my quest, it would benefit me most if I had some assistance. I’d humbly request you provide me with a few of your guards to accompany me and serve as my pawns—eh, I mean entourage.”

“Fair enough,” The King nodded. “Fortunately, my guards are some of the bravest, noblest warriors in my kingdom. I gratefully provide you with the assistance of my 13 elite guards—”

He motioned to the guards standing near his throne; but as he glanced upon them, he could only see a whirl of dust, several spears littered about, and a sign that read, “We quit!”

“—who have now retired!” The King, blushing, tugging at his collar, glanced at Gruber. “Well, it appears they are unavailable at the moment. I’m afraid you are on your own.”

Prince Phillip stepped forward and bowed before the King.

“Your Majesty, I humbly offer my assistance in retrieving the Princess. As someone with experience in rescuing fair maidens, my services would prove most useful in his quest.”

Princess Aurora also stepped forward and curtsied. “I, too, volunteer.”

Rapunzel did likewise. “As do Eugene and me.”

Eugene raised an eyebrow. “We do?”

Rapunzel elbowed him in the ribs.

“Of course,” he replied, nodding as he bowed. “Of course, I do.”

The King clapped his hands. “Very well. Are there any more volunteers?”

Susan stepped forward and bowed. “I do, Your Highness.”

The King blinked. “You? But you are but a chambermaid.”

Susan nodded. “I’ve been trained in swordsmanship under my father, the Captain of the Royal Guard. I’ve also been the closest friend to your daughter, The Princess, since we were young, and I would do anything in my power to save her, even at the cost of my own life.”

The King stroked his whiskers, then nodded. “So be it! If there are no other volunteers, then the rescue party may prepare for the quest ahead of them.”

Gruber once more bowed before the king.

“It will be my honor.” He turned to the others. “We shall depart at sunrise first thing tomorrow. The vile creature should not have carried our fair princess far. We will no doubt face many unspeakable dangers. Most of you will most certainly not make it—” He clasped his chest and closed his eyes in the haughtiest expression. “But that is a sacrifice I am willing to take.”

The others could only moan and roll their eyes in response. Promptly, they departed from the ballroom and returned to their respective chambers to receive a good night’s sleep.

DWOA Princess Alliance: Chapter 03

Disney's World Of Adventures

Chapter 03 - The Princess Meets Her True Love

Princess Marianna spent the day in her room preparing for her ceremony. As the sun set on the horizon and the hour of her event drew near, she sat silently in front of her vanity, gazing forlornly into her mirror, as her lady-in-waiting and closest friend, Susanna, helped her prepare.

Susan spent the past hour helping Maria apply her makeup. Now she tied her hair into a bun with several braids. She added the finishing touches by fixing her hair in place with diamond-studded hairpins. Unfortunately, she stuck one pin too far in.

“Ouch!” Maria jerked in place as the small yet sharp pin pricked her sensitive scalp.

Susan sucked breath through her teeth as she tensed up. “My bad! Let me fix that.”

As her friend withdrew the pin to fix it in place properly without nicking her scalp, Maria rubbed her temples. “Ay! Caray!”

“Sorry, boo!” Maria replied. “I’ll try to be careful.”

Maria shook her head. “It’s not that. It’s just that—I’m just flustered about this evening. I knew my father would marry me off someday. I just never thought it would be this soon. I assumed I had enough time to find the right person. And now he’s gone and found someone for me instead.”

“Cheer up!” Susan stuck another pin in Maria’s hair. “Who knows? Maybe your father finally found Mr. Right for you. Maybe this prince will actually succeed in sweeping you off your feet head over heels in love.”

“But what if he doesn’t?” Maria asked. “What if he’s still not the right person? I know I’ve been taking my sweet time with my suitors, and I understand my father getting impatient with me, but—you know—if I’m going to marry someone, I want it to be someone I love. You know? True love and all? Happily ever after?” Maria sighed as she frowned and sadly dropped her gaze into her lap. “But I guess that’s just the stuff of fairy tales. Maybe that’s just not for me.” She gazed at her friend’s reflection in the mirror. “I just hope that, when you finally get married—that is, if you get married—that you marry your true love. I hope you find someone you care for very much, someone you know very well, someone you want to spend the rest of your life with, together, forever. At the very least, do it for me.”

Susan pushed the last pin into Maria’s hair. After spending hours aiding her friend, from drawing her bath and dressing her up, to applying her makeup and styling her hair, she finally looked upon the final result of her handiwork. She was proud to say the least, but what Maria had said stirred something deep inside of her, something she couldn’t contain. She bit her lip.

“Maria, there’s something I’ve been meaning to tell you, something I’ve been wanting to tell you for a long time.”

Before she could say anything else, she was interrupted by the door flying open as another female servant rushed in.

“My ladies, the ceremony is about to begin! Please make your way to the ballroom!”

The other servant gasped when she saw Princess Marianna dressed and dolled up in her best. “Oh, bless my soul! You look absolutely gorgeous! You’re sure to be the envy of the party, and I’m sure you’ll catch your prince’s eyes as well!”

Once the servant left, Maria stood. “Well, I’m sure you can tell me later. My guests, and my prince, awaits.”

Once upon a time, there lived a princess named Aurora. On the day of her birth, she was visited by three good fairies, each of whom bestowed upon her a magical blessing. But an evil fairy arrived to lay an evil spell upon her. She was cursed so that, on the day of her sixteenth birthday, she would prick her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel and fall into everlasting sleep.

Not wanting the curse to come to pass, the three fairies took the baby princess away to raise her as their own and protect her from the evil fairy. Unfortunately, her sixteenth birthday arrived, and Aurora was tricked into pricking her finger and falling into a deep sleep. She was trapped in a tall tower and guarded by the evil fairy turned into a dragon.

DWOA Princess Alliance: Chapter 01

Disney's World of Adventures: Princess Alliance

Chapter 01: The Princess And Her-Lady-In-Waiting

*****

Once upon a time, in the beautiful kingdom of Hermosa Vista, there lived a princess. Growing up, her mother told her fairy tales about princesses like herself, about damsels in distress rescued by charming princes, and how they fell in love and lived happily ever after. Though her mother sadly passed away, the princess kept her stories alive and close to her heart.

As she grew older, the princess heard news of other princesses from other kingdoms similar to those in her favorite stories. She learned about a princess under a sleeping curse rescued from an evil dragon and awoken by true love’s kiss. She learned about a princess with long golden hair rescued from a tower, a mermaid princess who fell in love with a human prince, and an enchanted princess with the magic to summon ice and snow.

She heard as people eagerly shared stories of these princesses. She hoped to one day live a life as fulfilling as theirs and worthy of being told as a fairy tale. She longed to be just like the princesses in the stories her late mother told to her. And, most importantly, she wished to one day meet her true love and live with them happily ever after. Little did she know that her true love was closer than she realized, and that falling in love with them would only be the beginning of their story together.

On September 21, 2020, acclaimed art designer and cartoonist Ron Cobb passed away at the age of 83. Chances are, you've never heard of him, (I didn't even know he existed until this week!) but you've most likely seen his work. If you enjoy sci-fi films like Star Wars and Back to the Future, then you've most likely seen sets, props, and characters designed by him.

Cobb has contributed to countless sci-fi films including Star Wars, Alien, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Back to the Future, and Total Recall. He helped design the DeLorean from Back to the Future, the Tatooine Cantina and alien bar patrons from Star Wars, and many of the sets from Alien.

More than simply working in sci-fi, Cobb was also a cartoonist with radical politics. In fact, it's striking to see how many of his earlier political cartoons from the 1960s and 1970s still resonate and remain relevant even to this day, especially when they involve topics such as police brutality and war profiteering. Just goes to show that the more things change, the more things stay the same.

See for yourself with many of these choice comics, some of which could easily be published today:

Princess Alliance Info: Disney's World of Adventures

Disney © World of Adventures: Princess Alliance

Synopsis

Long ago, a great evil arose and threatened to destroy the world. Ten kings from ten kingdoms united to fend off this evil and seal it away with a magic spell. The spell was foretold to last as long as the kingdoms remained at harmony. Time has passed and the kingdoms have forgotten about the spell and the evil it sealed away. Now its magic has weakened, and the great evil is at risk of returning. Now ten royals from ten kingdoms must unite to fight against this evil once more. Now is the time for—The Princess Alliance!

About

Disney © World of Adventures: Princess Alliance is a Disney crossover fanfiction to be published on my blog, The Magic Ears Dudebro. The fanfiction is a crossover of various Disney properties, mainly the animated movies featuring the Disney princesses. The story is a high-fantasy action adventure series in the vein of Avatar: The Last Airbender or She Ra And The Princesses Of Power. The first few chapters serve as a “pilot episode” that introduces the main characters, setting, and the overarching plot. Most of the characters will be from Disney properties. The exception are two original characters introduced in the first few chapters.

Further Details

1) The world is not our own. Needless to say, a series about Disney princesses from movies based on fairy tales will not be set in our real world. The world is a unique fantasy setting completely different from our own world. As such, locations from our real world do not exist there. There are no continents like Europe, Africa, or Asia. Countries such as England, France, and China do not exist. The world instead consists of three inter-connected continents (east, west, and south) with several kingdoms and lands. (Think of it like the United States of Aurodon from Descendants, but not teenybopper trash!)

2) The setting is high fantasy. This series takes place in a high fantasy setting. Each of the different kingdoms are ruled by monarchs. Horse and carriage is the main form of transport. Swords and bows are the main forms of weaponry. Dragons, unicorns, and other mythical creatures exist. Magic is commonplace. Steampower is still in its infancy.

3) This is a crossover of animated Disney movies. The world and its setting is composed of various Disney properties, specifically the theatrical Disney animated features. So far, these properties will include those in the Disney Princess franchise, but will eventually include those from other properties in the future (provided they can reasonably fit within a high fantasy setting), but only those from the animated movies. No Pixar (except potentially Brave). No television series (except those based on the animated movies). No live action movies. No Star Wars. No Marvel. No Muppets. Only the genuine Disney classics.

4) This story takes place after the official movies. The main story will take place several years after the events within the Disney movies included—approximately, at least three to four years (five at the most). As such, the characters are slightly older, in their late teens at the least or early twenties at the most.

5) These are not the exact same characters from the movies. If it makes any sense, these are not the exact same characters from the movies, but if you have seen the movies, you know who they are and what their backstories are. Some of the characters have been slightly modified from their movie counterparts to better fit them and their respective settings into this world. As such, there will be slight “retcons” and changes of them and their original stories. For example, Rapunzel still has her long magic hair, even though it was cut at the end of her movie. Ariel is also able to transform into a mermaid and back at will using magic.

6) There will be not lengthy description of characters. Chances are, if you are reading a story like this, you’ve watched the Disney movies it's based upon. As such, you already know who the characters are and what they look like. If I mention “Ariel”, you already know she has red hair. If I mention, “Rapunzel”, you know she has long flowing hair. As such, I will not be describing these characters in great length. I will only describe characters if a) they are original characters, or b) wearing a completley different outfit than they normally wear.

Properties

This story (thus far) will include characters and settings from the following movies:

Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs

Cinderella

Sleeping Beauty

The Little Mermaid

Beauty and the Beast

Aladdin

Mulan

Tangled

Frozen

Fantasia

Sword And The Stone

Fan Art Friday: Into The Third Dimension

Often, I showcase two-dimensional fan art. But I'd like to take a moment and highlight some art with more than two dimensions. After all, it takes a lot of talent to make art in two dimensions, but it takes plenty of talent to create art in all three. So here's a rundown of some great three-dimensional artwork.

Open Thread Tuesday: Tony Goldmark On Splash Mountain

By now, I'm sure you all have heard the news that Splash Mountain will be re-themed to Princess And The Frog. Tony Goldmark recently uploaded at 45-minute video essay on the ride, the movie it's based on, and why he thinks it's a good idea to re-theme the ride.

By all means, give his video a watch. I think it was well made. I don't agree with every opinion he expressed in it, but overall, I think he made some good points. Top 9 Examples Of Political Correctness Gone Mad At Disney

Disney Wiki

Before you judge me by the title, I promise you I’m not some alt-right Trump-supporting MAGA chud. I’m a fairly tolerant guy who believes “black live matter” and “trans rights are human rights.”

I know “politically correct” has become a loaded term recently, especially since our “Dear President” is praised for being “politically incorrect” for saying things like how fallen soilders are “losers” and “suckers.”

I assure you that when I use the term “political correctness”, I’m not bemoaning the fact that cis-hetero white guys like myself can’t say the n-word. I’m rolling my eyes at people who insist we use words like “handi-capable” rather than “handicapped.”

So please permit an otherwise “tolerant” person like myself to riff on a multi-billion dollar, multinational corporation like Disney for trying to appear “woke” by making changes to things that don’t really need changes.

Fan Art Friday: I Love Fox n Roll

In the summertime when the weather is hot
You can stretch right up and touch the sky
When the weather's fine
You got women, you got women on your mind
Have a drink, have a drive
Go out and see what you can find
- In The Summertime, Mungo Jerry

For this week's Fan Art Friday, I decided to showcase one particular artist whose work I immensely enjoy. Allow me the pleasure of introducing you all to Fox n Roll, a furry artist on deviantART and FurAffinity.

What I love most about his art is its 1970s kitsch aesthetic. Looking at them feels like looking at stills and posters from that decade. I can almost hear the 1970s soundtrack playing in the background. He has the aesthetic right down to a tee. It reminds me a lot of Quentin Tarantino or Wes Anderson. Dude has created a lot of furry art, fan art, and furry fan art. And I'd like to share a few of my faves.

Throwback Thursday: The Outbursts of Everett True

Twitter

Times are harsh. The pandemic is still raging. Global warming is getting worse. Politicans are screwing people over. And it seems like people are getting ruder and meaner. These are truly times that test our patience, that make us wish we could lash out at the people making everyone else's lives miserable.

So when we see someone actually have the guts to stand up against those obnoxious people, even if their wrongdoings are relatively trivial, we consider it a cathartic relief. Fortunately, there are folks like Everett True who are willing to say "phooey" to civility and playing nice, who are willing to comfort the afflicted by afflicting the comfortable.

Open Thread Tuesday: Okay To Visit Theaters?

AP Oregon

The good news is that several new movies have been released in theaters like Christopher Nolan's Tenet and the new X-Men movie, The New Mutants. The bad news is that COVID-19 is still running amuck. So the question remains: is it safe to visit the theaters again?

Many theaters, of course, have put in place safety measures from assigned seating to face mask mandates. However, some people still think that visiting the theaters during these uncertain times is unsafe. Here's Bob Chipman's take on the issue. But I want to know what you all think?

Are you willing to go back to the theaters? Or are you going to wait? Leave your answer in the comments below:

Princess Marianna's Story: Disney's World Of Adventure

Once upon a time, in the beautiful kingdom of Hermosa Vista, there lived a princess. Growing up, her mother told her fairy tales about princesses like herself, about damsels in distress rescued by charming princes, and how they fell in love and lived happily ever after. Though her mother sadly passed away, the princess kept her stories alive and close to her heart.

As she became older, the princess heard news of other princesses from other kingdoms similar to those in her favorite stories.

Magic Ears Dudebro Reviews: Candance Against The Universe

IMDB

Phineas And Ferb: Candance Against The Universe is a hard movie to discuss without discussing the television show that spawned it. You can only understand why the movie is good by understanding what made the show good. After all, if you’ve never seen the show, you’re probably not interested in seeing the movie; and if you have seen the show—well, by now, you’ve probably watched and re-watched the film enough times to learn every song by heart. So I’ll be discussing this movie as though you’ve never watched the show before, explaining why you should give both a try.

Phineas and Ferb is a simple show with a simple premise. As the theme song explains, there’s 104 days of summer vacation, and two brothers, the titular Phineas and Ferb, want to spend every day accomplishing something big, whether it’s building a rocket, starting a pop band, or constructing their own roller coaster. Their older sister, Candance, tries to get them “busted” with their mother.

Meanwhile, unbeknownst to them, their pet platypus, Perry, ventures off on a secret mission as the secret agent, Agent P, to thwart the evil plans of Dr. Doofenshmirtz, a mad scientist who’s always trying to take over the world—or rather, the tri-state area—by using his latest invention with a name ending in “-inator.” Every episode ends the same way: the boys complete their major project, Agent P defeats Dr. Doofenshmirtz, and both storylines conclude with the boy’s big project disappearing before their mother can discover it, much to the dismay of Candance.

This is the exact same plot of every single Phineas and Ferb episode. Every. Single. One. And yet, despite the series running for 189 episodes, each episode remains as fresh as the very first. Because what this show lacks in an original story, it more than makes up with sharp witty humor. Its creators, Dan Povenmire and Jeff "Swampy" Marsh, had previous experience of writing for shows like The Simpsons, Rocko’s Modern Life, and Spongebob Squarepants, and their show exuberates with the same chaotic energy as those shows.

Phineas and Ferb’s success is owed to its self-awareness. It knows it’s a campy show with a basic premise, and it revels in it, simultaneously playing its silly premise straight while turning to the camera many times, winking, and admitting how silly it is. Its sharp wit and clever meta humor has allowed the show to spawn not only 189 episodes, but several television specials, a made-for-television movie (that was even shown in theaters in several countries), the spin-off series Milo Murphy’s Law, and even an attraction at Epcot. Now that it has its own Disney Plus original movie, the question remains: is the show’s main premise just as fresh as the first day of summer, or has it finally ended with summer vacation?

To see how Phineas And Ferb are going to do it all, click READ MORE:

Introducing Princess Marianna And Susanna: Disney's World Of Adventures

Princess Marianna is the girl who has everything. She’s the sole heiress to the Kingdom of Hermosa Vista. She’s best friends with her lady-in-waiting, Susanna. And she dreams of living a fairy tale “happily ever after” with her true love.

But things take a turn for the worst—or the better—when she’s stolen away by a thousand-year-old witch. Now it’s up to her “prince”, her lady-in-waiting, and the help of a few familiar Disney princesses to rescue Marianna and give her the happily ever after she deserves.

If you think you’ve heard this all before, prepare to expect the unexpected with a familiar fairy tale like this. And fair warning: this story is only the beginning!

Throwback Thursday: 10 Little Mickey Kids

Blogspot

Children's media was dark back in the day. Like, really dark. From cartoons to comics, children's entertainment often had dark moments that would most likely not pass today. Case in point is 10 Little Mickey Kids.

This classic Cracked article from 2013 highlights many insanely dark Disney comics that featured many insanely dark scenarios, from the implication that Mickey caught gonorrhea to Scrooge McDuck hate-f***ing his girlfriend/captive Goldie. But perhaps darkest of them all is a simple nursery rhyme comic about little Mickey babies meeting untimely fates.

Open Thread Tuesday: Is Physical Media Dead?

Go Social

Disney announced it will discontinue production of 4K Blue-Rays for live-action movies. The good news, of course, is that the company will still be releasing its films on DVD and BluRay.

However, this recent announcement does raise a good question. With Disney and other companies focusing more on streaming services, will streaming inevitably make physical media obsolete? Are DVDs and BluRays fated to go the way of the VHS tape? And will owning actual copies of movies be a thing of the past?

Before answering those questions, watch this video by Moviebob discussing the topic. Then feel free to express your own opinions in my comment section below:

Strength of the Lion Guard: Commission by Somdude424

There's something simply uncanny to me about seeing Disney characters as musclebound Adonises. Coco's Feel-Good Oppression

Disney Blog

Pixar’s Coco is a heartwarming film about the importance of family, about remembering our loved ones even when they’re far apart—especially in death. But like most good movies, the film touches upon many real-life issues, whether intentionally or not. In Coco, loved ones are separated, not only by death, but also through arbitrary borders enforced by bureaucratic institutions. (Rather fitting that the movie is influenced by Latino culture.)

YouTube creator eliquorice recently published a video essay exploring the systems governing the Land of the Dead, how they affect the denizens in that world, and how they reflect similar systems in our real world. He especially focuses on border control as enforced through passports and visas, how even people who meet the basic requirements can still face obstacles leaving and re-entering their country, and how these rules and restrictions often disadvantage the poorest and least fortunate, especially in third world countries.

Open Thread Thursday: Should You Go To Disney Now?

Sky News

Most likely against my better judgement, I decided to visit Disney World last week. On the one hand, my state is experiencing the worst of COVID-19. On the other hand, that means less people at the parks.

I plan on writing about my experiences in a future blog post, but for now, I wanted to pose the question about whether or not now is a good time to visit the parks. Most people would insist that a pandemic is not an ideal time for a Disney vacation. Others would insist that visiting the parks is a-okay provided you follow all the safety precautions.

But I want to know what you all think: Should people visit the Disney Parks now? Or should they wait until after the pandemic has safely passed?

Maid Marian The Blue-Eyed Fox

Conrad & Adams

Conrad & Adams is a fruit packing company located in the Yakima Valley of Washington State. They specialize in both conventional and organic produce, primarily apples, pears, and cherries. For many years, the company has remained dedicated to shipping fruit of only the highest consistent quality and taste.

As their website states: "From field to table is how we think, and we have a dedicated staff and team that carefully watches the life of each piece of fruit from the orchards to the packing warehouse to the packaging to the customer and eventually to the consumer."

So why am I talking about a fruit company on a blog about Disney? Because their mascot is an anthropomorphic blue-eyed vixen dressed in a red cloak like Little Red Riding Hood. Her name, fittingly enough, is the "Blue-Eyed Fox."

Recently, this blue-eyed fox mascot caught the attention of several furry artists on Twitter. They were quick to notice that the cartoon vixen seemed nearly reminiscent of another cartoon vixen from Disney: Robin Hood's Maid Marian. They even took the initiative to draw Marian as the Blue-Eyed Vixen.

Throwback Thursday: Crystal Pepsi Employee Training Video

Mashed

Do you remember Crystal Pepsi? Did you even know it existed? Because it did. Yes, believe it or not, Pepsi got the bright idea to make their product clear. They honestly thought it was a good idea. The fact it only lasted a year proved that it wasn't--and yet people to this day still reminisce about Crystal Pepsi.

Pepsi also got the bright idea to create a "training" video for retailers. Yes, apparently, they also believed that chain stores needed to be "trained" on how to sell another soft drink product. Honestly, that sounds like a real no brainer. "How to sell Crystal Pepsi. Step 1: Put it on the shelf. Done!"

So if you want to laugh at the bright idea that was Crystal Pepsi, and you want to laugh at their bright idea for a training video for Crystal Pepsi, then check out Brad Jones' video riffing on it:

Open Thread Tuesday: Are Movie Theaters Dead?

In an effort to spur more engagement on my blog, I’ve decided to create open thread posts as a way to generate more feedback in the comments section. Consider this my first attempt. (And, no, this is NOT my big announcement. That’s coming later this week!)

So Disney, not willing to wait any longer for COVID-19 to die down, announced it will be bypassing movie theaters and releasing its live-action remake of Mulan on Disney Plus—sort of. Starting Sept. 4, the movie will be available on the streaming service for a premium fee—of $30! Yes, really!

In case you’re wondering: yes, I have Disney Plus; but, no, I’m not paying 30 bucks to watch. If it’s anything like the past few live-action remakes, then the animated version will simply be a better watch—and it’s on Disney Plus for free!

But Disney's announcement certainly raises some questions—and concerns!

There’s no doubt COVID-19 has taken its toll on the theater industry. The pandemic has forced cinemas to remain closed and lose money. Furthermore, many movie studios have opted to release their movies straight to video-on-demand (VOD). Many movies such as Trolls: World Tour and Scoob! have experienced massive success in doing just that. In fact, Trolls: World Tour did so well bypassing movie theaters that some theaters have threatened to stop showing Universal movies altogether.

With more and more studios opting to release their movies directly to VOD instead of movie theaters, many theaters worry that studios will continue to do that even after the pandemic. This, of course, raises the concern about whether or not movie theaters are “obsolete”?

Do I think this will be the death of cinema? Of course not! Everything from television to home video were expected to “kill” theaters, and yet theaters continued to thrive. Even if more studios like Disney decide to continue releasing their movies to VOD, I’m sure more people will still be willing to visit the cinema—you know, once the pandemic has died down.

But I want to know what you think: Will VOD kill movie theaters? Or will theaters continue to live on? Moreover, do you plan on paying $30 to watch Mulan? Why or why not?
